Description

The Halcyonics MOD-2 M (often referred to as the MOD-2 M) is a legacy active vibration isolation control unit, commonly used with older scanning electron microscopes (SEMs), such as those by Carl Zeiss, and other high-precision laboratory equipment.

The technical specifications for the Halcyonics active vibration isolation technology (currently marketed under Accurion by Park Systems) generally include:

Vibration Isolation Performance

  • Active Isolation: Starts as low as 0.6 Hz (newer models) or 1.0 Hz (standard legacy units).
  • Passive Isolation: Provides isolation for frequencies above 200 Hz.
  • Isolation Efficiency: Typically -25 dB (94.4%) at 5 Hz and -35 dB (98.2%) at 10 Hz.
  • Degrees of Freedom: Active compensation in 6 axes (all six degrees of freedom).

System Response & Control

  • Settling Time: Approximately 300 ms.
  • Response Time: 0.5 ms.
  • Actuators: Low-voltage electromagnetic actuators.
  • Adjustment: Automatic load adjustment is standard on modern successors, though legacy MOD-2 M units may require manual setup for specific instrument configurations.

Operational Requirements

  • Power Supply: 100–250 V / 47–63 Hz; typically consumes 10–20 W (max 50 W).
  • Compressed Air: Not required (the system is purely electronic/electromagnetic).
  • Operating Environment: 15–40 °C (59–104 °F) with relative humidity up to 60%.

Load & Interface

  • Load Capacity: Depends on the specific isolation elements connected; typical configurations support loads from 120 kg to 600 kg.
  • Diagnostic Output: BNC analog diagnostic output.
  • These technical documents detail the performance, operational requirements, and load capacities of Accurion Halcyonics vibration isolation systems:
