MKS Newport "HD" tables refer to the SmartTable® HD (High Damping) series, which provides the highest level of stability by combining broadband, tuned, and active damping technologies.

The HD series is distinct because it incorporates Hybrid Damping, which utilizes three layers of vibration control to eliminate resonance peaks: 

• Broadband Damping: Uses a constrained layer core, damped working surface, and composite edge finish to dissipate energy across a wide frequency range.
• Tuned Damping: Features two precision-tuned dampers that target specific fundamental structural modes and their harmonics.
• Active Damping: Includes two IQ™ active dampers that monitor tabletop vibrations via built-in sensors and generate opposing forces to attenuate them in real-time. 
• Working Surface: 4.8 mm thick 400-series ferromagnetic stainless steel.
• Surface Flatness: ±0.1 mm over a 600 mm square area.
• Mounting Pattern: M6 threaded holes on a 25 mm grid with 12.5 mm borders.
• Hole Sealing: Individually sealed with easy-clean, non-corrosive polymer conical cups (19 mm deep) to prevent liquids from reaching the core.
• Core Design: Vertically bonded trussed honeycomb closed-cell construction.
